Yes, horses! Rome Country Club was also home to Pinebrook Farm, a unique standardbred horse farm that produced some of the region's best in the last ten years. Pinebrook Farm is most famous for producing Teeth of the Dog, winner of over $630,000 in total earnings. Born on-site, "Teeth" quickly became a huge success. His career highlights include: lifetime mark of 1:50.2, set three track records [Northfield (Cleveland, OH), Woodbine (Toronto) and Buffalo], eleven New York State Sires Stakes victories, winner the $421,000 Confederation Cup in Canada, the $100,000 Burlington Stakes, and the prestigious Senior Jug in Delaware, Ohio.
Teeth of the Dog is not the only success story out of Pinebrook Farm. The New Jersey eligible Ruthless Jen, winner of over $420,000, called Rome, New York home. Ruthless, nicknamed ATM, won 37 races in her lifetime. Her biggest win was in the $100,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Final at the age of 2. She is currently embarking on her broodmare career.
Pinebrook Farm is now being transitioned into a new housing development, August at Rome Country Club. The housing development will border the back nine of Rome CC, providing some of the best real estate in Oneida County.
